About

Sesame Place Philadelphia sits in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes north of Philadelphia, and holds the distinction of being the first theme park in the world built entirely around the Sesame Street brand. It's designed specifically for younger children - roughly ages two through twelve - and it shows in every thoughtful detail.

The park divides into dry rides and water attractions. Dry rides include family-friendly coasters, spinning rides, and character-themed attractions that are sized and paced for small children. The water side features slides, splash zones, a lazy river, and a wave pool. On hot summer days, the water attractions are the main event.

Live shows featuring Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and the rest of the Sesame Street gang run throughout the day on multiple stages. Character meet-and-greets happen at scheduled times across the park, and the characters are consistently patient and engaging with young fans. The daily parade is a highlight, with elaborate floats and costumed performers.

Sesame Place earned designation as a Certified Autism Center (CAC), making it one of the first theme parks to receive this certification. The park offers sensory guides for attractions, quiet rooms for guests who need a break from stimulation, and staff trained in autism awareness and sensitivity.

The park operates seasonally, typically from late April through early January, with special events for Halloween (The Count's Halloween Spooktacular) and the holiday season (A Very Furry Christmas). Summer is peak season with all water attractions open.

It's not a massive theme park - you can see everything in a full day. But that's actually part of the appeal for families with young children. The scale is manageable, the atmosphere is gentle, and everything is built with little ones in mind. For kids who love Sesame Street, this is the happiest place they can imagine.

Accessibility

Sesame Place has made accessibility a core part of its mission, and it shows. The park is largely wheelchair and stroller accessible, with paved pathways throughout. The main entrance is ADA compliant with no steps or stairs to navigate.

All restrooms in the park are wheelchair accessible and clearly marked with the wheelchair symbol. Family and companion restrooms are available at First Aid and other locations, providing additional space for guests who need assistance with mobility devices.

Wheelchairs, scooters, and strollers are available for rent at the park entrance. Guests using their own mobility devices can navigate most of the park's pathways without difficulty.

As a Certified Autism Center, Sesame Place offers extensive sensory accommodations. Sensory guides are available for each attraction, helping families plan their visit based on specific sensitivities. Quiet rooms provide calm spaces for guests who need a break. Staff throughout the park have completed autism awareness training.

Accessible parking is available near the main entrance. Ride accessibility varies - each attraction has specific requirements posted at the entrance, and guest services can provide a detailed accessibility guide upon arrival.
