Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment

About

Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment brings the thrill of world-class harness racing to East Rutherford, New Jersey. Located within the massive Meadowlands Sports Complex, this iconic racetrack has been a destination for horse racing fans for decades, and it welcomes visitors of all abilities.

Harness racing is a unique spectacle. Unlike traditional horse racing, the horses here race at a specific gait - either trotting or pacing - while pulling a two-wheeled cart called a sulky. A driver steers each horse around the track, and the action is fast, close, and exciting. Whether you're a seasoned handicapper or a first-time visitor, there's something genuinely thrilling about watching these athletes (both human and equine) compete.

Beyond the races, the facility offers day and night simulcasting, so you can watch and wager on races from tracks across the country. There's a full-service sports bar, dining options, and regular entertainment events that make it more than just a racetrack. The venue also hosts family-friendly activities throughout the year, making it a solid option for a day out with people of all ages.

Planning your visit is straightforward. The Meadowlands Sports Complex sits just off the New Jersey Turnpike, making it easy to reach from New York City, Newark, and surrounding areas. Parking is plentiful, and the facility runs a regular schedule of live racing dates alongside its simulcast programming. Check their website for the current racing calendar before you go.

For dining, you'll find options ranging from casual grab-and-go spots to sit-down restaurants with views of the track. Grabbing a meal while watching the horses warm up is one of the simple pleasures of a visit here.

Whether you're planning a date night, a family outing, or a fun afternoon with friends, Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment delivers an experience that's equal parts sport, spectacle, and good old-fashioned fun.
