About
The Belle of Louisville is the oldest operating Mississippi-style steamboat in the world, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind experience on the Ohio River. Since 1914, this National Historic Landmark has carried passengers along Louisville's stunning waterfront, and today she continues that tradition with sightseeing cruises, dinner excursions, and special event sailings throughout the season.
Stepping aboard the Belle feels like traveling back in time. The vessel's steam-powered paddlewheel churns through the water as you take in panoramic views of the Louisville skyline and the Indiana shoreline. Cruises typically last about two hours, giving you plenty of time to relax, enjoy the scenery, and soak in the river breeze from the outdoor observation decks.
The Belle of Louisville Riverboats fleet also includes the Mary M. Miller, a more modern vessel that hosts many of the dinner cruises and private events. Both boats depart from the wharf at Fourth Street Live on the downtown Louisville waterfront, making them easy to reach from hotels, restaurants, and other attractions in the area.
Sightseeing cruises offer a narrated tour of Louisville's river history, while dinner cruises feature a full meal and live entertainment. Throughout the year, you'll find themed sailings for holidays, live music events, and family-friendly outings. The onboard cash bar serves drinks on every voyage.
Parking is available in nearby lots and garages within a short distance of the boarding area, and passenger drop-off is conveniently located close to the gangway. The cruise season generally runs from late spring through early fall, so check the schedule before planning your visit.
Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking for a relaxing afternoon on the water, a ride on the Belle of Louisville is a Louisville experience you won't forget. It's the kind of attraction that appeals to all ages and creates lasting memories.
Accessibility
The Belle of Louisville offers wheelchair accessibility to portions of the vessel. A handicap lift provides access to the ballroom deck, where restrooms, the bar, and concessions are all located on the same level. The dining level (lower level) is also wheelchair accessible. If you're a wheelchair user and not booking a meal cruise, it's important to let the reservationist know when making your reservation so they can reserve a spot with good views for you.
The boarding area features easy passenger drop-off close to the gangway, with nearby parking available. Outdoor observation decks are part of the cruise experience, though access to upper decks may be limited for mobility device users. Contact the venue directly to confirm which decks are currently accessible.
Service animals are welcome aboard as defined by the ADA. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not permitted, as they are not classified as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
For visitors with specific accessibility needs beyond mobility, contact Belle of Louisville Riverboats before your visit to discuss accommodations. Staff can provide details on current vessel configurations, seating arrangements, and any temporary accessibility changes that may be in effect for your sailing date.
