About
Joslyn Art Museum is one of Omaha's major cultural destinations, with collections and exhibitions spanning thousands of years of art across connected museum buildings. The museum reopened with a refreshed campus that includes the original Joslyn building, newer gallery spaces, sculpture gardens, dining, shopping, and public programs. General admission is free, which makes it an especially practical stop for visitors who want a substantial museum experience without a high entry cost. The visit can work for a short gallery stop, a longer art-focused afternoon, or a combined indoor and garden experience. Joslyn also publishes access information covering mobility, service animals, hearing access, sensory kits, and accommodation requests.
Accessibility
Joslyn Art Museum publishes an access page and visit details for planning. ADA parking spaces are available, there is a covered visitor drop-off area at the main entrance, and parking in the museum lot is free and first-come, first-served.
The museum states that the main and garden entrances are wheelchair accessible, as are the outdoor sculpture gardens and all interior museum spaces. Elevators serve all areas of the building, and all restrooms and water fountains are wheelchair accessible.
A limited number of wheelchairs are available first-come, first-served at the Hawks Pavilion Welcome Desk. Service animals are welcome when trained to assist a person with a disability and under handler control.
For communication and sensory access, Joslyn lists assistive listening systems, American Sign Language interpretation by request and at select programs, some verbal description through mobile guide stops, and sensory kits available at the Welcome Desk. Visitors who need a specific accommodation should contact the museum before their visit so staff can confirm timing and availability.
